- The long-forgotten Blade Runner director's cut update! Released in 2006, it was sold for 4 months before being pulled from sale to make way for the Final Cut edition.

- This Z2 edition differs in its packaging from the previous 1999 edition only by its subtitle "director's cut" (the previous version had the subtitle "director's cut").

- 97% of fans passed by this edition without buying it, thinking it was just a repackaging of the previous DVD. However, it is a unique remaster of the Director's Cut, in 2.35:1 format, instead of the 2.20:1 of the first DVD (more image on the 4 edges), with improved colorimetry in 16:9 and DVD-9. This DC calibration has never been reissued since.

- The 1999 DVD was a port of the Laserdisc master. This one is a unique 2006 remaster, which has never reappeared on any other medium. It This is the world's best preservation of the original director's cut colors, ahead of the Final Cut 25th Anniversary remaster.

- The advantage compared to the version included as a bonus in the Final Cut Blu-ray: the colors are the original ones, and the included surround mixes are also original, not reductions of the 5.1 remix as is the case in the bonus versions of the Final Cut box set.

- The theatrical and bonus director's cut versions in the Final Cut box set are seamlessly branched together, sharing all the same colors and remade soundtracks to make them all fit together. Here you have the director's cut as it was originally, with no DNA shared with the versions from 10 years prior that were remade 25 years later.

- Since this DVD was only around for 4 months, it is not very common on second-hand sites, which often sell the 1999 version instead of this one, due to the similarities in the cover.
